Sherlinka Naidoo is a Counselling Psychologist whose path into the profession began in 2014 with a simple desire to help people. Over time, that intention has deepened into a profound commitment to walk alongside others as they navigate the emotional complexities of life. Rather than trying to fix or diagnose, Sherlinka offers a space where clients can feel seen and supported, where their stories are held with care and curiosity, and their growth is guided by insight rather than pressure.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that lasting change begins with self-acceptance. Inspired by Carl Rogers’s philosophy that “the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change,” Sherlinka helps clients move toward this acceptance, not as complacency, but as an honest starting point for transformation. In a world that often demands performance and perfection, she provides a shelter for vulnerability, reflection, and the courage to feel.
While her work is rooted in person-centred values, Sherlinka draws on a range of evidence-based approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. These include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused work, and trauma-informed brain-based techniques such as hypnosis, integrating insight with practical tools to support meaningful, sustainable change.
Sherlinka works with adults, adolescents, and children in her Fourways-based practice, offering individual therapy, couples work, and therapeutic workshops. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her professional experience spans roles in private practice, military health services, academia, and community-based organisations. From serving as a guest lecturer to working with vulnerable children in safe havens, Sherlinka’s career reflects a deep and ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities that helped shape her journey.
She brings a calm, grounded presence into her sessions and sees her work not as an intervention, but as a shared process, bearing witness to moments of clarity, pain, change, and acceptance. For Sherlinka, it is a privilege to sit with people as they choose to face themselves and their lives more fully. Outside of her work, she finds joy and balance in dancing, painting with watercolours, cooking, and spending time with her family, which she describes as her anchor.
